JobsOhio Board Of Directors Holds Public Meeting In Chillicothe

Meeting Includes Discussion of 2014 Results and Southeastern Ohio Update

COLUMBUS – The JobsOhio Board of Directors held its quarterly public meeting at the Adena Health System PACCAR Medical Education Center in Chillicothe. The meeting included a summary of the company’s 2014 performance and highlighted recent development activities in Southeastern Ohio.

John Minor, President and Chief Investment Officer for JobsOhio, noted the improvement of the company’s key metrics, which are highlighted in the recently released JobsOhio 2014 Annual Report and 2015 Strategic Plan.

“In 2014, our job creation numbers were up 20 percent over 2013,” said Minor. “New capital investment, another key metric, was up over 70 percent.”

Minor said JobsOhio anticipates increasing its workforce development efforts in 2015, and launching an initiative to help companies develop a skilled workforce in Ohio.

JobsOhio Managing Director Kristi Tanner discussed the renovation of the historic Carlisle Building in downtown Chillicothe, saying the redevelopment of the iconic structure will bring new life into the heart of downtown.

“The redevelopment of the Carlisle Building started with Adena as a community leader taking an active step forward and partnering with the Chesler Group out of Cleveland, which has experience bringing old structures back to life,” said Tanner.

The $7 million renovation, which includes $1.5 million from JobsOhio, is expected to be complete by October of this year.

John Molinaro, President and CEO of the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth (APEG) said the region is using the latest technology to create an inventory of sites that are of interest to job creators. He noted that from 2012-14 the region won 81 projects bringing more than 6,000 new jobs and $7.1 billion in new capital investment to the region.

JobsOhio is a private, non-profit corporation designed to drive job creation and new capital investment in Ohio through business attraction, retention and expansion efforts.
