Companies Set to Relocate and Expand in Franklin County

More than 1,700 Jobs Created or Retained

Columbus – In collaboration with the Ohio Department of Development and the JobsOhio Network, JobsOhio has secured globally recognized companies for the Franklin County area, which will add 50 new jobs and retain 1,702 positions.

Today, the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved tax credits for Abercrombie & Fitch and Pacer International, Inc., which are looking to relocate or expand operations in Franklin County, bringing a combined investment of more than $36.5 million to the region.

“Ohio’s improved business climate, talent and world-class strength in logistics helped us win these deals,” said Mark Kvamme, President and Interim Chief Investment Officer for JobsOhio. “Keeping the operations of a major retailer like Abercrombie and Fitch and a logistics leader like Pacer International is paramount to sustaining the kind of growth that Central Ohio has been experiencing recently.”

Abercrombie & Fitch was approved for a 10 percent, 15-year non-refundable Ohio Job Retention Tax Credit, which will leverage an investment of more than $35.1 million and retain 1,702 positions. The project includes adding 108,000 square feet to a distribution center, expanding parking lots, purchasing equipment, and renovating office space. The company could have chosen to put its distribution center and all e-commerce actives anywhere around the globe but selected Ohio due to the state’s strong business climate. Abercrombie & Fitch operates as a specialty retailer of casual apparel for men, women, and children.

Pacer International, Inc. was approved for a 45 percent, seven-year Ohio Job Creation Tax Credit, which will leverage capital investment of more than $1.4 million and create 50 jobs. The project involves the relocation of the international accounting function and the purchase of machinery and equipment, as well as building renovations. Pacer International is an asset-light freight transportation and third-party logistics provider operating in intermodal and logistic segments.
